This year's pack meetings are on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm at Joaquin Miller Community Center. Our monthly pack hike (read: outdoor walk 😉) is typically the Saturday after the pack meeting at 10am, location to be confirmed at pack meeting. In addition to those monthly events we typically have a special event each month. See those below highlighted in yellow.
Den meetings (single grade-level) will happen at least once per month at a time agreed upon by the den, often on Wednesday nights. To see the den meeting schedule, click here or contact your den leader here.
APRIL
4/4 - 4/6 - Spring Campout! - Our spring campout is confirmed for Anthony Chabot park, Hawk Ridge campsite. Details and RSVP here. 🏕️
4/9 - Pack Meeting - Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm - Note it is a week later than normal! Park cleanup, no uniforms please. 🌿🧤♻️
4/19 and/or 4/26 (TBC) - Monthly pack hike - 10am, Montclair Rail Trail, meet in front of Montclair Parking Garage - 🥾
4/27-4/28 or 5/3-5/4 - Tiger Cub Safari - Fun camping and activity weekend open to all Tiger Scouts (1st graders) - Register here. $$ 🐯
(Various dates) Den Meeting Focus - Elective and end-of-year adventure catch-up
MAY
5/2-5/4 or 5/16-5/18 - Mom and Cub Campout - Open to all Scouts and their female adult. Most P296 moms choosing 5/2-5/4 weekend. Waitlist only. $$ 👩👦
5/7 - Pack Meeting - Crossing Over - Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm - Our last pack meeting of the year we celebrate the year and especially the Cub Scouts who are "Crossing Over" to Scouts BSA. - ✌️
5/10 - Monthly pack hike - 10am, Location TBD - 🥾
JUNE

8/10 - Joaquin Miller Elementary - Sign-Up Event - Signing up new families to the pack! Meet us at the Joaquin Miller school between 9am and 1pm as part of the school Registration Expo.
8/14 - Welcome Back Pack Meeting - New and Returning Scout Families - Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm. Our first pack meeting of the year for our returning and newly joined Scout families.
8/17 - Monthly pack hike - 10am, Albany Bulb.
8/28 - Cub Scout Pack 296 Adult Info Session (virtual) - Missed the info session? Check out the Scouting 101 section of our site to get the key information shared, or contact us for more information.
SEPTEMBER
9/4 - Prospective Family Welcome Pack Meeting and Sign-Up Night - Joaquin Miller Park, Lower Meadow, 6:30pm - This meeting is open to all prospective families interested in learning about Scouts. Any current Scouts that bring a friend will get a "Recruiter" patch. This will be a fun meeting where we do the "Egg Drop Challenge" to see if our Scouts can work together to protect an egg from a big fall.
9/6 - Montclair School Sign-up Night - 6:30-7:30pm - Meet at the main blacktop. We will be answering questions and helping families join our pack.
9/7 - Monthly pack hike - 10am, Leona Trailhead. See directions here.

10/26-10/27 - Webeloree 2024 - Calling all Webelos and AOLs (4th and 5th graders)! Come to this event to have some more adventures and earn extra pins. Info here $$

11/13 - Pack Meeting - Serving our Community - Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm - Date changed due to "Red Flag Warning" on 11/6.
11/9 - Monthly pack hike - 10am - Instead of a pack hike this month we will do the Scouting for Food flyer drop off. See below.
Annual Scouting for Food Drive & Collection - This is our biggest annual volunteering event, where we ask local households to donate food which are then given to area food banks.

DECEMBER
12/4 - Pack Meeting - Scout Carnival & Toy Exchange - Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm. Please bring working, used toys to exchange with other Scouts! The toys will be given out based on the carnival games.
12/15 - Pack Ice Skating - 12:40 - 3pm, Oakland Ice. Please wear your Scout neckerchief or hat over your warm clothes.⛸️

JANUARY
1/8 - Pack Meeting - STEM activity- Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm - Scouts will build various vehicles using different propulsion methods. We will also be handing out Pinewood derby cars at this meeting.
1/18 (NOTE: new date) - Monthly pack hike - 10am, Looking for Ladybugs! Stream Trail at Canyon Meadow Staging area - 🐞
1/22 and 1/23 - (Optional) Pinewood derby cut nights - 6-8pm at Montera Jr High School on Scout Road 🧰🪚

FEBRUARY
2/5 - "Game Night" Pack Meeting and Pinewood Impound - Joaquin Miller Community Center, 6:30pm - Please bring a game you'd like to play with other Scouts! During the meeting we will also be inspecting and collecting Pinewood cars for Saturday's race. 🎲🃏♞
2/8 - Pinewood Derby Race - Saturday 10am at KaiserAir (8735 Earhart Rd, Oakland, CA) - 🏎️
