Cub Scouting begins with the Bobcat adventure, the first step for all Scouts each year. This initial adventure introduces Scouts to the Scout Oath and Law, which form the cornerstone of our program and embody the core values we uphold. In the Bobcat adventure Scouts learn about these values, along with the Cub Scout Motto of "Do Your Best". Finally, in this adventure Scouts connect with members of their den, a group of Scouts in the same grade.
Dens are made up of Scouts in the same grade. At the beginning of each year Scouts get to know each other and participate in team-building activities like creating a den name or den code of conduct. This initial gathering helps Scouts feel welcomed and excited about their Scouting journey.
The Scout Motto, "Do Your Best," is a fundamental lesson in the Bobcat adventure. It reminds Scouts to give their all in every task, emphasizing effort over perfection. This motto encourages a positive attitude and resilience, teaching Scouts that true success comes from trying their hardest and continuously striving to improve.
All Scouts start by learning and reciting the Scout Oath and Law, and we recite these at the beginning of all meetings. These form the foundation of our values, teaching Scouts to strive for honesty, kindness, and helpfulness. Through the Bobcat adventure and beyond, Scouts internalize these principles and learn to apply them in their daily lives.
On my honor, I will do my best
to do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake and morally straight
A Scout is:
trustworthy,
loyal,
helpful,
friendly,
courteous,
kind,
obedient,
cheerful,
thrifty,
brave,
clean
and reverent
