Scouts and Scouters:

Food Drive a Success!

First off, a HUGE thank you to Craig Hammond for organizing the food drive.  It was a big success and we collected more food (over 1,000 items!) than any other group in our district.  And a big thank you to those of you who braved the smoke to pick up the food this weekend.

Split Pack Meetings this Month

Second, the Pack meeting this month (Wednesday the 28th) will be split between Joaquin Miller Elementary (for dens in the Montclair area) and Sequoia Elementary (for dens down the hill).  Both will be doing civic spirit activities. Tremendously important to have our young folks learn about healthy forms of citizenship in these troubled and polarized times.

Skating Toy Drive in December

And speaking of important civic activities, December is the month for our Toy Drive, Ice Skating event.  A big thank you to Jesucita Castellanos for organizing this.

The Ice Skating event will be Saturday, December 8th from 5:45 to 7:30pm at the Oakland Ice, Please bring an unwrapped gift for each person that plans to skate, as a donation for the Mayor’s Toy Drive. We encourage your scouts to come in your regular cub shirt, tie and cap for pictures but also be prepared to come with gloves and a bike helmet for added safety.

The private skate will be from 6pm-7pm and then we will have a private room to enjoy cake and take pictures with the gifts from 7-7:30pm.  Oakland Ice reopens its rink for public skate at 7:00 pm. If you are interested in continuing with public skate you will need to purchase your tickets at the box office.

Please note that there is a snack bar at the rink and please allow for time in finding parking. It can get busy on a Saturday night in this part of town.

There will be no pack meeting in December (since it will be right during the holiday break), though most dens will hold their meetings.

January is Pinewood and we're going to be sending out dates for kids to do the cuts for their cars.  Look for more information about this and reminders about the Toy Drive going forward.

And, as always, all of this information is always at

Yours in Scouting,

Cubmaster Micah
